We provide a wide range of services to our two Member colleges: Brockenhurst College and Bournemouth & Poole College including financial management, payroll, human resources, examinations, student records and data returns processing and IT Software development. The HR administrator role provides comprehensive administrative support to WESS and both Colleges.

Job Description

The Role

As one of our HR Administrators you will play an active role in helping with HR related tasks across the team. This includes supporting recruitment, issuing employment contracts, completing and maintaining employee records and the HR database, and responding to calls and queries.  It’s a varied and busy role so we need someone who is well organised and happy managing conflicting priorities and ensuring things get done.

The role is varied and includes:

  • Recruitment processing, staff selection and safeguarding checks, contracts and offers
  • Maintaining accurate records, regular data reporting
  • Being first point of contact for HR Services enquiries
  • Updating and maintaining records within the HR Database
  • Documenting human resources actions by completing logs and updating records
  • Supporting the development of HR reporting and processes 
  • Supporting the HR Business Partners with casework and projects
  • Maintaining HR software, records and staff files, ensuring that all documentation is prepared to the highest quality and accuracy standards and takes into account relevant legislation and employment law
  • Processing starters and leavers, ensuring that all paperwork is completed and advising Payroll accurately and within required deadlines

Key skills and attitudes

  • You’ll be professional, an excellent communicator with a high level of credibility
  • Able to maintain and build strong working relationships
  • Have strong administration skills, with an eye for detail and be able to work to a high level of accuracy with a high degree of responsiveness
  • Have the ability to work independently providing customer service excellence, owning queries and cases from initial contact through to resolution
  • Possess good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience of using a computerised HR System would be an advantage - or willingness to learn.  
  • It is essential that you can use Excel, Word and Outlook to an intermediate standard
  • Have a desire to continuously analyse and improve processes
  • Ideally have proven experience in administrative work in an HR Environment.
